Body found in search for missing Ballyclare man

Police searching for a missing Ballyclare man have recovered a body.

Robert McMurtry, 66, known as Bert, disappeared at about 9.45am on Monday morning.

Concerned family members contacted police and his gold Renault Scenic was discovered at 2.55pm in Woodburn Road, near Carrickfergus.

Officers in Newtownabbey have now revealed that they found a body in the same area on Tuesday afternoon.

A PSNI spokeswoman said investigations are ongoing and a post mortem will be carried out.
