Carrickfergus mansion priced at just £60,000 fails to sell

It is a stately home once worth £1m. But despite having its reserve price slashed to an incredible £60,000, this grand mansion in Carrickfergus remains on the market.

The 10,000 square foot property was the biggest bargain on offer at Tuesday's BRG Gibson Auction. Once worth £1m, the reserve price was listed at £100,000.

But on the night it was dropped again to £60,000 when no interest was shown. Even with the lower price, there were no takers for Glynn Park in Prince Andrew Way, Carrickfergus, which sits on the shores of Belfast Lough.

The palatial pad, known locally as The Residence, has cavernous rooms and lots of period detail inside – as well as having spectacular views over the lough from an elevated site.

It has a sweeping driveway, indoor pool, a library, a guest annex and two cellars.

With an address which is just a short commute from Belfast city centre, the property has plenty of potential for a new owner, but didn't tempt a buyer to part with their cash on the night.
