A child has suffered serious head injuries following a one car road crash in Co Londonderry.

The smash happened on the Mullaghmesh Road in Feeney at around 2.55pm on Sunday afternoon.

The road has been closed at its junction with the Glenshane Road and the Ballyhanedin Road.

Diversions have been put in place and drivers are asked to avoid the area.

Police have appealed for anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward.
