A couple are being treated in hospital after an armed gang robbed them at their Co Down home.

Four men - two armed with guns - burst into a house in the Rostrevor Road area of Warrenpoint at around 10pm on Sunday night.

A couple in the property were then threatened before being locked in their bathroom.

The armed robbers then made off with a sum of cash.

The alarm was raised on Monday morning after someone called at the house.

The couple were left badly shaken, and have been taken to hospital for treatment.

Police have appealed for information.
