A programme that helped 17,000 unemployed young people in Northern Ireland and the Republic gain skills in North America and Europe is to close.
The Wider Horizons Project has been run by the International Fund for Ireland since 1985.
It emerged yesterday resources are being moved elsewhere, but the US Congress is being lobbied in a bid to save the project.
