Dissident charges for Marian Price and three men

Charges against four people — including former hunger striker Marian Price — in relation to a dissident republican march have been reinstated. The four are due to appear at Londonderry Magistrates Court at the end of the month.

Price (57), from Stockman's Avenue in Belfast, appeared in court under her married name of Marian McGlinchey.

Paddy McDaid (42), of Sackville Court, Frank Quigley (29), of Elmwood Road and Marvin Canning (50), of Glendara, all in Derry, were also charged with managing and taking part in a meeting in support of a proscribed organisation.

At the time of her first appearance on this charge in May 2011, the Secretary of State revoked McGlinchey's licence. She has remained in custody ever since.

In May there were no papers in front of District Judge Barney McElholm and the charges were not proceeded with. However, the PPS decision means the four now face the original charges.
