Elderly woman robbed at her Co Down home during distraction burglary

An elderly woman has been robbed during a distraction burglary in Co Down.

It happened in the Churchview Drive area of Banbridge on Saturday.

Shortly after 10.45am two men approached the home of an elderly woman and told her they had cleaned the guttering at the back of her house.

While distracted one of the men stole a sum of cash from the house before making off on foot.

Police have said the first man is approximately 5'5" tall of thin build, with short black hair, aged around 25 or 26, wearing a blue and white horizontal striped jumper.

The second male is described as approximately 5'9" tall, medium build, short dark hair, aged in his early 50s, wearing dark trousers and a navy striped top with horizontal stripes and a navy body warmer.

According to police both men spoke with Southern Irish accents.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
