Fire rescue police officers treated

Four police officers were hurt rescuing a woman from a flat fire in Ballymena

Four police officers needed hospital treatment after rescuing a woman from a fire.

Emergency services were called to the blaze in a flat in the Lanntara area of Ballymena shortly after 1am.

The woman was rescued by PSNI officers and taken to hospital for treatment. Her condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

A PSNI spokesman said the four police officers involved also needed hospital treatment after suffering from smoke inhalation.

"At this stage police are not treating this fire as suspicious," he added.
