Former mayor to revisit his IRA past

The former Mayor of Limavady is to revisit his IRA past as part of a major new exhibition focusing on the families of ex-political prisoners.

The Voices Interned project involves relatives of ex-prisoners re-enacting the past in photographs. It runs at An Culturlann in Belfast from this Thursday for a week and at the Playhouse in Londonderry for a week from Thursday, September 27.

Ex-mayor of Limavady Sinn Fein councillor Sean McGlinchey will take part in a discussion panel at the launch in Belfast this Thursday at 7.30pm.

Mr McGlinchey spent 18 years in jail for his part in a car bomb attack which killed six people in Coleraine in 1973.

He took up the chain of office in 2011 after being elected to Limavady Borough Council for the first time.

The discussion will be chaired by Eamon Baker from the Towards Understanding and Healing project.
