Former PM Faulkner’s wife dies

The wife of Northern Ireland’s last prime minister Lord Faulkner has died.

Lucy Faulkner, nee Forsythe, married Lord Faulkner in 1952 after they met through their common interests of politics and hunting.

The couple had three children, a daughter and two sons, and lived in Highlands Estate, near Seaforde, Co Down.

Lady Faulkner had worked as a Belfast Telegraph journalist before her marriage. She was also the first national governor of BBC Northern Ireland.

Lord Faulkner died in 1977.
