A man has been given a suspended jail sentence after calling another man "a faggot".
Philip McDonnell (42), of Great James Street, admitted at Londonderry Magistrates Court to being disorderly last October 13.
The defendant was in the vicinity of Waterloo Place when there was a verbal altercation with another man.
The injured party claimed McDonnell had called him "a faggot".
McDonnell was sentenced to three months in prison, suspended for 12 months.
