Heatwave fears for UK... but not here

Britain is set to swelter in temperatures of up to 30C this week

Northern Ireland will miss out on the hottest temperatures as a two-day heatwave descends on much of the UK.

Hospitals across Britain have been put on alert as temperatures are due to rise higher than those in Barbados. But in Northern Ireland, forecasters are predicting highs of a more temperate 22C in the next few days, with a mixture of sunshine and showers.

Meteogroup forecaster Andy Ratcliffe said there is an element of uncertainty about tomorrow, but it is likely to be a humid day with a risk of thunderstorms pushing in from the east.

It looks like it will be quite showery on Sunday morning with some heavy showers.

The afternoon looks like it will be drier with sunny spells and the odd lingering shower.
