A device found during a security alert close to Ballyclare police station has been declared a hoax.

The suspicious object was discovered on the Ballynure Road in the Co Antrim town on Wednesday morning.

The device was dealt with by Army bomb experts outside the station, adjacent to the Post Office.

A number of people who were evacuated have since been allowed to return to their homes.

The Ballynure Road had been closed in both directions but has since reopened.
