Homes cleared after pipe bomb found

A security alert was prompted when a pipe bomb was found in south Belfast

A pipe bomb has been found in south Belfast, police said.

The viable device was discovered in the Iverna Close area on Tuesday night.

It prompted a security alert and a number of homes had to be evacuated.

Army bomb disposal experts were called to the scene and made the device safe.

Another suspicious item found in the area was declared an elaborate hoax.
