Explosive devices linked to dissident republicans have been defused by bomb disposal experts in Londonderry.
Several families had to be evacuated from their homes in Maureen Avenue, on the city side of the River Foyle, during the security operation.
Police confirmed a number of viable devices had been found and they will undergo forensic examination.
A 30-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of dissident republican activity has been detained for questioning.
Police commander Chief Inspector Garry Eaton said: "These viable devices were found in a flat, in the middle of a built-up residential area, which could have caused significant damage or serious harm to local people.
"Evacuating the area caused disruption but our primary concern is to keep people safe and prevent injury to the public."
