Golfer Rory McIlroy and his tennis ace girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki looked every inch the happy couple as they smiled at each other under the Dubai sun yesterday.

The pair were pictured together as the 23-year-old tennis champion Wozniacki watched McIlroy (24) compete in the World Tour Championship.

The sporting pair certainly did not look like a couple who had been at the centre of speculation over the future of their relationship, and seemed relaxed in each other's company.

On Wednesday, Wozniacki shared a photo of the golfer on the tennis courts on her Twitter feed.

In October, sources close to the pair – who met in the summer of 2011 after meeting at a boxing match in Hamburg – told a Sunday newspaper that Rory had ended the long-term relationship.

It was said that an unflattering photo of the Major-winning golfer asleep, posted by Caroline to her thousands of followers on Twitter, was the last straw and prompted the break up. Wozniacki was reportedly "devastated".

But shortly after this, the former world number one golfer gave a strong hint that he and Wozniacki were still an item when he referred to her as "my girl" in a celebratory tweet when she won the Luxembourg Open.

Despite the speculation, the world number 10 tennis star continued to use a photograph of her and McIlroy as her Twitter profile picture. Previously the pair had been spotted holding hands while shopping in Manhattan.

When the couple first became an item questions were asked about an apparent dip in performance by both of the athletes and speculation continues on whether the pair are still loved-up or not as they maintain silence on their relationship status.

But when the reports of a split initially emerged, the Co Down superstar took to Twitter, declaring that informed sources were "wrong 99.9% of the time".
