Linen Hall Library launches online archive

Treasures in the arts archive at Belfast's oldest library are available online for the first time.

The acclaimed theatre and performing arts section at the Linen Hall Library includes material dating as far back as the 1700s. Items including original programme posters, photographs and handbills will now be available to anyone with access to the internet.

John Killen, the Linen Hall Library's librarian, said: "The digitisation of our Theatre and Performance Arts Archive marks a major milestone in our plan to make the Linen Hall Library's collections available to the widest possible audience.

"We are delighted to have the support of both Ulster Bank and Arts and Business Northern Ireland to help us bring this archive to life."
