A man and woman have been arrested following an armed robbery in Londonderry.

The pair - a 41-year-old woman and man aged 40 - were held after reports two people armed with knives robbed a shop in the Great James Street area.

It's understood prescription drugs were taken during the robbery which happened at around 5.25pm.

Two people were arrested in the Westland Street area of the city a short time later.

Drugs and knives were also recovered.
