A 43-year-old man and woman aged 41 have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of police officers during a gun attack.

They were held in north Belfast on Tuesday morning in relation to a shooting in December.

Three PSNI Land Rovers came under automatic fire on Crumlin Road in north Belfast on December 5 last year.

It is believed at least 10 rounds were fired at the vehicles from over a wall by someone standing on a makeshift platform.

The attack took place close to the loyalist camp at Twaddell Avenue.
