A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a bomb attack on a police officer in Belfast last year.

He was arrested in the Antrim area on Monday morning and has been taken to Antrim Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

The arrest comes after a police constable was preparing to take his wife and two children out for Sunday lunch on December 30 when he discovered a device under his car at his home in Upper Newtownards Road in east Belfast.

Senior officers said the attack could have killed the policeman and his family.
