Man charged over MP Long bomb alert

A man faces court over a bomb alert at the office of Alliance MP Naomi Long

A 33-year-old man has been charged in connection with a bomb alert at the office of East Belfast MP Naomi Long.

He is facing charges of intimidation and placing a hoax device outside the cross community Alliance Party's offices on Newtownards Road last Tuesday.

He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

Ms Long has been subjected to a lengthy campaign of intimidation over her party's stance on the Union flag dispute at Belfast City Hall.

Earlier this year she was issued with a death threat by loyalist paramilitaries.

A spokesman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said the charges may be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
