A man has been arrested over the attempted murder of Londonderry civil servant Paul McCauley.
The suspect, 36, was detained in the city on Thursday morning by detectives, a police spokeswoman said. He is being questioned at Strand Road police station.
Mr McCauley was left in a permanent vegetative state after he was attacked at a barbecue in July 2006. Daryll Proctor is serving a 12-year-sentence for causing Mr McCauley grievous bodily harm.
A second man aged 21 has also been arrested in Londonderry in connection with the attempted murder.
