A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attempted hijacking of a taxi in west Belfast.

Three men got into the vehicle in Springfield Road in the early hours of Saturday and told the driver they were stealing the car.

But the driver stopped in nearby Grosvenor Road and resisted.

The three men fled empty-handed.

The arrested man, believed to be from the city, is helping police with their inquiries into the incident.
