Man robbed by bogus water company callers

Two men posing as water company officials have robbed a man in his Belfast home.

The distraction burglary took place on the Springfield Road around 2pm yesterday.

The men gained entry to the house and while one distracted the homeowner with questions, the other left the room and stole a substantial amount of cash.

The perpetrators left on foot before the victim noticed anything was missing.

One man is described as being in his 30s, 6ft tall, with dark hair and heavily built. The other is in his 40s, 5ft 11ins tall, of medium build, with fair hair.

Police are appealing for anyone who has experienced a similar call recently to get in touch.
