A man has been shot with a stun gun during an armed robbery at a house in north Belfast.

Three masked men burst into a house in the North Circular Road area at around 11.55pm on Sunday night.

One was armed with gun, a second had a stun gun while a third man was armed with an axe.

Two men in the house at the time were tied up.

One of them was assaulted by the butt of a weapon before being shot with a stun gun.

Both victims suffered injuries not thought to be serious.

The masked gang made off with cash, jewellery and the family's black BMW 318.

The car was last seen heading towards the Divis area of west Belfast.

Police have appealed for information.
