A man sledgehammered his way into a flat after allegedly being attacked during a previous party there, the High Court has heard.
Police found him pinned to the ground by the resident and a neighbour after arriving at the scene in Burrendale Park, Newcastle, Co Down, prosecutors said.
Stephen Lynch (23), of Stream Street, Downpatrick, faces a charge of aggravated burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm in the alleged break-in on May 18.
Crown counsel said a neighbour claimed to have heard loud banging and witnessed Lynch striking the door. The accused allegedly had stated that he was stabbed in the hand, had his eye and lip “busted” at a party in the flat the previous day and had returned “to sort matters out”.
Bail was refused.
