Men arrested over car hijacking were 'armed with sword'

Four men, including a teenage boy, arrested by police over a car hijacking and burglary were armed with a sword.

They are currently being questioned on suspicion of a variety of offences including hijacking, burglary, possession of an offensive weapon and breach of bail.

The men - aged 16, 23 and two aged 22 - were held after two women were forced from their car, a red Vauxhall Astra, at Pembroke Loop Road in Dunmurray by two men on Tuesday night.

Police have said one of the men was armed with a sword.

The car then made off before crashing into a police vehicle on the Stewartstown Road a short time later.

It then made off again.

Several hours later it was found in a field on the Carnaghliss Road in Crumlin. Officers recovered a sword from the hijacked vehicle.

The men were arrested in the area a short time later after reports of suspicious activity at a house.

Officers responding found that entry to the property had been forced.

All four remain in police custody.
