Plans for an Asda in Banbridge have been rejected by Environment Minister Alex Attwood.
Asda had promised 200 full and part-time jobs at the complex and filling station on Newry Road, but Mr Attwood said he believed the decision to reject the application would help Banbridge town to continue trading well in uncertain times.
Asda said it remained committed to bringing low prices to shoppers in Banbridge.
