Employment and Learning Minister Stephen Farry has addressed a major conference about the importance of dealing with mental ill-health in the workplace.
He spoke at the Action Mental Health Employment Conference held at the Belfast Harbour Commissioners yesterday. The theme was Resilience In The Workplace: Enabling Your Employees To Cope Under Pressure.
“Mental ill-health is a very real and prevalent issue for us all,” said the Alliance minister.
“As employers, we all have a responsibility to ensure that we create a culture and environment that encourages employee engagement, participation, a sense of belonging and that we take the health and wellbeing of our colleagues very seriously.
“My department’s Disability Employment Service offers a range of programmes and services to help people with mental ill-health. I will also shortly officially launch a new specialist disability employment programme, Work Connect.”
