Motorist assaulted in robbery

Robbers have attacked a woman who was driving to a bank in Glengormley.

Detectives in north Belfast are appealing for information following the robbery which happened on Friday afternoon.

At around 4.15pm, a 24-year-old woman was driving from her place of work to a bank in Glengormley.

Two men forced her car to stop in the Floral Gardens area at the junction of the Whitewell Road and Antrim Road by jumping out in front of her car.

One unsuccessfully tried to take her car keys, then hit the victim while the other opened the passenger door and grabbed a bag. They made off on foot down the Whitewell Road with a sum of money. The victim suffered minor injuries.

One of the culprits is described as about 6ft 2in, in his 20s with ginger hair and wearing a grey tracksuit. The other was about the same age, wearing a dark tracksuit.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information about the robbery to contact them at 0845 600 8000 or anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
