Car owners are being urged to be vigilant after a spate of thefts from vehicles at three different beauty spots.
The PSNI is asking people to be careful about what they leave in a car after handbags were stolen from car parks in Comber, Ards and Downpatrick.
Community safety inspector Hazel Brady said: "There is always a potential rise in this type of crime during the spring and summer months when everyone likes to get away for the day or go for a walk at a beauty spot.
"That is when the thieves strike, and when people are in a relaxed mode they sometimes leave valuables such as handbags, wallets, mobile phones, cash and jewellery on view.
"Not only are valuables stolen, but also there is the mess to clear and broken glass to replace, not to mention having to cancel bank cards, apply for duplicate driving documents, change locks etc, which adds insult to injury," Ms Brady added.
