A policeman has been released on bail over allegations he accessed the police computer to provide information about a man who was later murdered.
Banbridge station officer Andrew Desmond Donaldson is alleged to have provided information on Audrius Aukstolis to a “female friend” on January 5. The 29-year-old Lithuanian was stabbed to death in Dungannon a week later. Mr Aukstolis had been investigated over several cases of kidnap, rape and assault of women.
Another Lithuanian man is currently being questioned over the killing.
Objecting to the bail application, a prosecution lawyer said there was concern he would try to interfere with an unnamed woman who will be a witness in the case.
The lawyer said the accused had allegedly been in contact with her since the murder, asking if she had spoken to police, and deleted text messages he had sent to her.
Bail was granted but he will have to report to a police station every day and is not allowed to enter Dungannon or Coalisland.
He will appear in court next month.
