North West 200: Rider airlifted to hospital after crashing out during practice

A rider has been airlifted to hospital after crashing during practice at the North West 200.

The rider - who had been riding a Superstock bike and has not yet been officially named - crashed close to the start/finish on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened just minutes before the session was due to end.

He was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast for treatment.

His condition is not yet known.

Practice was halted slightly early today as a result of the crash.
