Northern Ireland Water fined for pollution

NORTHERN Ireland Water was fined £500 plus costs at Downpatrick Magistrates Court for polluting a Co Down waterway.

The court heard on March 31, 211 a water quality inspector observed a discharge at Ballynahinch wastewater treatment works. NI Water said the incident was linked to mechanical failure of pumps and it had co-operated with Northern Ireland Environment Agency.
