A nurse left an elderly patient in a soiled bed with a ripped nightgown, a hearing has been told.
Olaide Idowu (42) also moved two residents at the Mountvale Private Nursing Home in Dromore, Co Down, without a hoist, the Nursing and Midwifery Council heard.
After home manager Edith King informed the NMC about the incidents, Idowu allegedly called her a “wicked bitch” in a phone call.
Idowu also failed to tell home bosses that she had been subject to an interim order limiting her practice after allegations were made at a previous workplace.
Joanna Dirmikis, for the NMC, yesterday described the woman left in a dirty bed overnight as an “elderly and frail resident who needed a high level of care”.
The doubly-incontinent woman, known as ‘Resident B’, had been discovered lying in “soiled and ripped clothes” by another nurse arriving for a day shift in January 2008, said Miss Dirmikis.
Idowu, who had been the sole night duty nurse on the ground floor of the home, later claimed she had done rounds at 4am and 6am, but had not wanted to disturb the resident, who had been “unsettled”.
Miss Dirmikis said: “It was really the registrant's responsibility to care for this resident, and the care that she provided was clearly inadequate.”
Idowu, of Northampton, is not attending her central London hearing and has made no admissions to any of the charges.
The hearing continues.
