An elderly man jumped from an upstairs window while fleeing from a knife-wielding intruder who had broken into his home.
The aggravated robbery happened at around 11.30am in the Park Road area of south Belfast yesterday.
The man managed to escape from his home by jumping from an upstairs window.
The victim was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital by ambulance with minor injuries before being released.
Following the incident a family member said the victim and his family were too shaken to speak about the ordeal, and had only returned to their home to assess what had been stolen by late yesterday afternoon.
One neighbour said there had been a large police presence earlier in the day following the incident, with residents shocked that such a thing had taken place on their doorstep.
The brazen, aggravated burglary comes only days after the Belfast Telegraph exclusively revealed that four pensioners are the victims of robberies or burglaries every day in Northern Ireland.
