It seems Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness have made some new Friends – quite literally – during their US visit.

The first and deputy first ministers bumped into actress Courteney Cox and her Snow Patrol boyfriend, Johnny McDaid, in Los Angeles.

They were also met by the band's lead singer, Gary Lightbody. Cox is best known for playing Monica in Friends.

The leaders, who are in the US on a trade mission, also met filmmaking talent from Northern Ireland involved in the fifth Cinemagic LA Film and Television Festival for Young People.

Mr Robinson said: "Northern Ireland's creative industries sector is continuing to grow at a remarkable pace, creating employment opportunities for hundreds of people and generating millions of pounds in our local economy."

The pair also met the president of production and senior executives at HBO during their visit.
