Pipe bomb found amid north Belfast security alert

A pipe bomb has been found during a security alert in north Belfast.

Army bomb experts were sent to the scene of the alert in the Spamount Street of the city after reports of a suspect object

A number of homes were also evacuated, with Spamount Street closed to traffic between North Queen Street and Lepper Street for a time.

All areas have since reopened.

Bomb experts declared the object as a 'viable pipe bomb type device'.
