A pipe bomb has been thrown at a car in north Belfast.

The viable device has since been made safe by Army bomb disposal experts in Duncairn Gardens.

It is understood it was thrown at the parked car at around 11am but did not detonate.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the incident and remained in custody this evening.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
