Little Nicole McBride said she was “gobsmacked” upon hearing the news about yet another outpouring of generosity to help make her dreams come true.

Surrounded by a myriad of pinks of every shade in her new princess paradise, the plucky schoolgirl celebrated the news that she would be seeing her favourite big-budget Disney show - the Lion King.

Since the Belfast Telegraph first published the heartbreaking story about 10-year-old Nicole’s battle with Ataxia Telangiectasia, the McBride family has received a host of donations from the public - each trying to help the Derry girl tick off another item on her bucket list.

Grasping her beloved new puppy Evea in her new bedroom — provided by Mervyn Wilson from Starplan — the sparkle in little Nicole’s eyes said it all.

Three tickets for the Lion King musical in Dublin were provided by Alison Hayes of Hayes Fuels in Dungannon, who said she wanted to make one of her wishes come true.

“I saw the story in the Belfast Telegraph and just wanted to help,” she said.

“We had bought them for ourselves but thought she would really like them.”

Nicole’s loving Mum Shona said her daughter was “over the moon” and couldn’t wait to see her favourite show which “kicks Disneyland’s ass”.

“She was absolutely gobsmacked when I told her she was going to see the Lion King,” she said.

“It’s her favourite and it’s so kind that we’ve been offered the three tickets.”

Shona said he daughter was in good form and that the generous gift was the latest in a line of presents helping to keep her spirits lifted.

“She has basically got everything now. Her wee doll, a puppy, and loads of other stuff such as the Disney store vouchers,” she said.

Since first drawing up her list Nicole has already enjoyed a family trip to Disney World in Florida and a night out on the ice with the Belfast Giants.

Only last month the brave schoolgirl lit up the room as she celebrated her 10th birthday in style — ticking off several of her bucket list dreams in the process.

And in spite of Nicole’s genetic condition which will ultimately claim her life, she’s still smiling — every day.

“She’s loving the bedroom and everything that goes with it — there’s just pink everywhere,” said mum Shona.

“Nicole’s already had loads of friends over for sleepovers. She’s not too bad at the moment and doing well.”
