Police call for Christmas spray foam crackdown

Police in a County Antrim town have issued an appeal to businesses not to sell spray foam to youngsters in the run-up to a Christmas Lights switch-on.

For a number of years in Ballymoney there were problems with teenagers spraying foam over parents and children during the festive activities.

And although the last few years have been relatively incident-free, in the run up to the lights switch-on this week police are asking businesses not to sell teenagers spray foam, shaving foam and products.

May Dunlop, mother of Ballymoney motorbike legends Joey and Robert, will switch on the lights in Ballymoney tomorrow.

Inspector David Anderson, of Ballymoney PSNI, said: “We will ask businesses not to sell items which they think might be misused on the night.”
