Police have fired a shot during an incident in Belfast.

Four men were arrested during the operation on the Donegall Road in the south of the city last night. There were no reports of any injuries.

It is understood police were responding to a telephone call in which it was claimed a group of men, at least one of whom was armed, were trying to enter a house. It is not clear if the incident was linked to paramilitary activity.

Roads in the area were closed to traffic.
