Police investigate mystery death of Northern Ireland model in her Dundee flat

A model from Northern Ireland has been found dead in mysterious circumstances in Scotland.

Enniskillen woman Caoimhe Gault (25) was studying nursing at a Scottish university as well as pursuing her modelling career.

She was found at her flat in Dundee at the weekend in what Scottish police are treating as an "unexplained" death.

The auburn-haired beauty had been studying mental health nursing at Abertay University and is understood to have been planning a new life in London after landing a job at a hospital in the capital.

Police are probing the unexplained death and a post-mortem was carried out, but there are understood to be no suspicious circumstances.

Caoimhe's family have travelled to Scotland to identify her body, with her distraught mother Tara venting her sorrow on social media site Twitter at the loss of her "angel" and "the soul of my life". Stylists and make-up artists who worked with her said the 25-year-old will be "sorely missed'".

Mrs Gault, who works in health and social care, paid tribute to her daughter on Twitter.

The grieving mother poignantly wrote: "I live each day like it's my last because life is so precious."

But beneath a picture of her and Caoimhe, both with beaming smiles, she appealed for readers to "please spare a thought for my daughter Caoimhe Gault who tragically died today, my heart is broken, she was my world".

Earlier she said: "My daughter died today, 25, I've lost my daughter, friend and soul of my life.

"She was ready to take on the world, but it was not to be, RIP.

"My beautiful daughter tragically taken from this life 01.03.13. Rest in Peace my angel."

Last night her family in Enniskillen were too upset to comment but confirmed her mother was still in Dundee.

Sinn Fein councillor for the area, Thomas Maguire, said "no one knows what happened yet but it's very sad".

An Abertay University spokesman said: "The university is very sorry to hear of this tragic death and our thoughts are with Caoimhe's friends and family at this difficult time."

Sandra Cormack, of SC Makeup Artistry, who had worked with Caoimhe, described her as "a beautiful and intelligent girl".

She said: "She was really nice, very chatty, bouncy, friendly.

"Mental health nursing was her passion and that is what she loved doing, and I think the modelling was something she really loved doing as well."
