Police issue appeal after assault

Police have renewed their appeal for information following a serious sexual assault in Newcastle.

The incident, in which a 19-year-old woman was attacked, happened in the early hours of Saturday July 20 around Down Road and Beach Avenue.

Detectives are looking for a man seen in the area at the time. He is believed to be in his late teens, about 5ft 10ins tall and of medium build.

He had medium-length hair and was wearing dark blue jeans and a light-coloured T-shirt.

Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
