Police probe link in Newry crime wave

Police in Newry are investigating a potential link between a spate of thefts, burglaries and break-ins in three different areas.

The incidents included four vehicles being broken in to, two businesses being burgled and a car being stolen sometime between the evening of Monday October 15 and the next day.

Three vehicles — a Volkswagen Sharan, Renault Megane and Suzuki Jeep — were targeted in the Yellow Road area of Hilltown when they were entered and items stolen, including cash and a DVD player.

A car in the Lisserboy Road area of Newry was also entered and a sum of cash and mobile phone taken. Meanwhile, in Dundalk Street, Newtownhamilton, thieves entered two business premises. Cigarettes were taken from one of the businesses and a gaming machine smashed open in the other.

And a silver BMW 530D Sport Auto was stolen as the result of a creeper burglary in Ringsbane Road, Newry, sometime between 6.30am and 7.30am on October 16.
