Polish man threatened by accused, court told

A Polish man whose door was kicked in was threatened and told he would be “shown where he belongs”, a court has heard.

The alleged victim said a man who called at his Carrickfergus home tried to get him to come out to “take care of business”.

Belfast Magistrates Court was also told a crowd that gathered at the scene turned hostile towards police and the family as they tried to move belongings.

Jonathan Crymble (23), of Davys Street, Carrickfergus, is contesting charges of intimidation, disorderly behaviour, criminal damage, assault on a female and resisting police in connection with the incident last August.

A police officer told of how the family appeared distraught when she arrived at the scene.

Following her evidence, a defence barrister applied to have the assault and intimidation charges struck out, arguing whoever was at the house did not tell the occupants to leave.

District Judge Fiona Bagnall adjourned the case to next week to consider the application.
