DJ Pete Snodden has paid tribute to his best friend, PR guru Dee Puri, who has died suddenly.
He said his mentor — who celebrated his 40th birthday in June — was an “eternal optimist” who “touched so many people over the years and always had a smile on his face”.
“We were best mates for the last 14 years. I just can’t believe it and I’ve lost a great friend and someone who was always there for me,” he said.
“He would always be so supportive and help people, day in and day out.”
It’s understood Mr Puri collapsed on Tuesday afternoon at a gym on the Lisburn Road in Belfast.
A post-mortem was due to be carried out on the Belfast man yesterday afternoon.
The circumstances surrounding his death are not yet known.
A legend of the Belfast club scene, Mr Puri was responsible for helping to turn his home city into a thriving mecca for young clubbers.
Snodden described the owner of Bangbang PR and managing director of Bangbang Print Ltd as “a huge character who will be sorely missed by both his friends and loving family”.
“He was such a character and always had a smile on his face,” he added.
Working as a consultant over the years, Mr Puri was one of the “main men” who helped launch Belfast clubs such as Milk and the Box Nightclub, said Snodden.
“He was probably the most positive person I have ever met,” he added.
