Surgeons at Craigavon Area Hospital have operated on a 26-year-old man after his arm became trapped in machinery at work.
A spokeswoman for the Southern Health and Social Care Trust described his condition as stable and said he had undergone surgery.
Emergency services were called to Linwoods Bakery in Armagh yesterday. Medics were on the scene within nine minutes and the man’s arm was freed.
A rapid response vehicle, ambulance and a doctor were all sent to the scene of the accident.
A spokeswoman for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said three appliances, from Keady, Newry and Armagh, were sent to the emergency as well.
The man was freed from the machinery using hydraulic equipment and he was rushed to hospital in Craigavon.
The Health and Safety Executive has launched an investigation into the incident.
