Second pedestrian killed on Northern Ireland's roads in 24 hours

A pedestrian has been killed after being struck by a car in Co Tyrone.

The man in his 70s died following a one vehicle crash in the Sedan Avenue area of Omagh this morning.

It's understood the victim collided with a green Volvo XC90 shortly after 8am.

He's the second pedestrian killed on Northern Ireland's roads in the space of 24 hours after a 31-year-old man was killed in Londonderry yesterday.

He died after colliding with a white lorry on the Crescent Link Road in the city at around 2pm.

The victim was taken to the nearby Altnagelvin Hospital for treatment but died some time later.

Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to get in touch.
