Second pipe bomb found in village

A pipe bomb described as viable was found in Kells, Co Antrim, on Wednesday night

Army technical experts have made safe a small bomb in Co Antrim.

The pipe bomb, which police described as viable, was discovered in Tildarg Road, Kells, on Wednesday night.

It is the second time in as many weeks that an explosive device has been found in the village.

Roads in the area were closed to traffic for several hours as the pipe bomb was defused.

A spokesman for the PSNI said the area had later been reopened.

A fortnight ago a similar device was found wrapped in a plastic bag in a hedgerow near Kells.
